2005 ROCO Tasting Notes
He says, "In the nose I get a bit of black licorice, plum cake and black pepper that flows effortlessly to black cherry as it has time to open in the glass. In the mouth, the wine is juicy with flavors of pomegranate and plum juices. Its center is spicy with bits of licorice, a touch of pepper and a long sweet fruitcake finish."
She says, "Upon first pouring the wine in the glass the nose is anis and white pepper with a deep raspberry background, but after a few moments in the glass the anis falls away and the berry aromas move forward. The wine is big and round in the mouth with smooth satin textures. As the wine breathes, the flavors move from spice, pepper, and plum to subtle vanilla flavors with a hint of cinnamon and sweet cherries. It has a high yum factor."

The Winemaker's 2005 Vintage Notes
A distinctive sense of place has emerged in ROCO Pinot Noirs. All four vintages score high for a wonderful mixture of red fruit-layered on top of rich black fruit characters finished with a topping of spice. These are the very flavors sought after in the vines and wines of the north Willamette Valley.

The 2005 Pinot Noir "Private Stash" is from Soles' Wit's End Vineyard. It has a superb perfume of toasty black cherries, black raspberry, and floral elements. This is followed by a broad band of sweet fruit, vibrant acidity, light tannin, and enough balance to ensure a long window of peak drinking.
Supple, graceful and deliciously complex, offering dark plum, blackberry, and black olive flavors on plush texture. The flavors linger expressively against wisps of tannins.
